Cahones Part II...Could it be?

Andy Barr reports that it seems that the veneer is starting to come off of Chairman Obama and the Republicans are starting to actually question his divine status.
Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele urged supporters Thursday to “fight” ABC News over the network’s planned televised town hall on health care “It seems that the mainstream media has finally decided to dispense with the pointless denials of favorable coverage of the Obama administration. Now one network, ABC News, has actually turned its entire programming over to President Obama and his big-government agenda,” Steele wrote in a fundraising email under the subject line “URGENT!!! Help the RNC fight Obama & ABC News!”

I wasnt too keen on Republicans when they went on their own spending sprees when they had control of both houses. Hopefully they learned a lesson. The jury is still out on Steele as far as I'm concerned. If he wants to make the Republican party viable again, he needs more action like this and less weak-kneed pandering to so-called centrists who are only swayed by emotion anyway.

I'd like to thank the guy who posted this

While surfing the net last night, I came across this live performance video of former Eagles guitarist Don Felder performing his solo classic Heavy Metal (Takin' a ride). It's from May of '09 and you have to wonder where the guys been all this time. If anybody remembers the classic movie from the 80's of the same name, take a moment to stroll down Memory Lane and relive the days of Hanover Fist and Lincoln Stern.

Might this be the first sign of "cahones"?

Both Byron York and Powerline are reporting on the scandal of the firing of Inspector General Gerald Walpin. Is this perhaps the issue that Republicans will finally "grow a pair" and actually take issue with the Obamessiah?
The White House suggestion that Walpin, who is 77 years old, is somehow mentally not up to his job and cannot perform his duties has caused great skepticism among Republicans on Capitol Hill. GOP investigators have talked to Walpin and found him entirely sharp and focused. "He has been collected and coherent," says one investigator. "What the White House described is not the experience that we have had in dealing with him." (That is also my own experience, having talked with Walpin for a total of about two hours since the weekend.) In addition, Walpin has also performed well in recent high-profile media appearances.
This entire episode stinks to High Heaven. It is now being alleged that this scandal could expand to include other IG's who were let go. Hats off the Sen Grassley for his persistance in this matter.

The Wanderer I never actually met

Recently, one of those special people we get to meet via the world wide web has set out on his own. He doesnt have the creature comforts that many of us take for granted. He is "outdoors, you know" people. I am amazed that someone of such superior intellect could find themselves in a condition such as this, but alas, there it is. Perhaps too many of us are unappreciative of the blessings we have and shield ourselves from the fragility that what we have can easily be taken away given a particular sequence of events cruelly unfolding before us. I wish you well my friend. I hope that the angels protect you on your journey and that it all becomes more settled and less hectic for you. If anybody so desires, they can read for themselves his journey here and realize that this is no ordinary person, no matter what his surroundings or circumstances. God speed JQP.

Just Don't Call It Socialism Part II

Jonah Goldberg had a great article yesterday. Quote...
When the question is aimed at them like an accusation, liberals roll their eyes at such "paranoia." They say Obama is merely reviving "New Deal economics" to "save" or "reform" capitalism. But liberals themselves have long seen this approach as the best way to incrementally bring about a European-style, social democratic welfare state.
If you havent done it yet, go out and get Goldberg's book, Liberal Fascism which is coming out in paperback this week. It's truly an eye-opener.

Just Don't Call It Socialism

Jonah Goldberg had a great article yesterday. "Part of the problem here is definitional. No mainstream liberal actually wants government to completely seize the means of production, and no mainstream conservative believes that there's no room for any government regulation or social insurance. Both sides believe in a "mixed economy" but disagree profoundly about where to draw the line.
Personally, I think socialism is the wrong word for all of this. "Corporatism" -- the economic doctrine of fascism -- fits better. Under corporatism, all the big players in the economy -- big business, unions, interest groups -- sit around the table with government at the head, hashing out what they think is best for everyone to the detriment of consumers, markets and entrepreneurs. But, take it from me, liberals are far more open to the argument that they're "crypto-socialists."

The only question left unanswered is if they are trying to make us more like Europe, with it's long vacations and short work week or like South America where youre lucky to have any kind of job at all.
