Chris Coons promises to bring Yale Divinity School values to the US Senate

U.S. Senate Candidate Chris Coons (D-Delaware) has stated in an interview with Notes From the Quad that serving in the U.S. Senate would be a "great way for me to apply the principles and values that were honed at YDS." And just what were some of those required courses that Yale Divinity School requires for a Masters degree? Let's take a look...

  • "Specifically listed as REL 717: Witchcraft and Witch Hunting, the "REL" presumably stands for "Religion." Apparently Christine O'Donnell's main offense when it comes to dabbling in witchcraft in high school on a date is some sort of Ruling Class snobbery that she didn't go to Yale Divinity School, where witchcraft has been quite officially part of the school's curriculum. The very same school from which Chris Coons insists he has taken his values.

  • Queer Worship. You read that right. The formal name for this course is REL 786, Liturgy and Gender (Queer Worship). Queer Worship, you see, stands for…stands for…well, let's just say the course description says in the wonderfully baroque style of academia that the course offers students like Mr. Coons once was "the opportunity to reflect critically on how ….queer theories and theologies are impacting how Christian worship is performed and reflected upon."

Feminist/Womanist/Gendered Theologies:This course is listed as "REL 749."..Mandatory YDS reading for this gem?.. Mujerista Theology by Ada Maria Asisi-Diaz. Mujerista theology brings it all together. Feminist theology and Latin American liberation theology nicely stirred so that when Coons is assigned to, say, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee's Western Hemisphere Subcommittee, Delaware voters can rest assured the values Coons learned at Yale Divinity School are shared with Venezuela's Hugo Chavez.

  • Just Hospitality. REL 922. The mandatory reading features The Pedagogy of the Oppressed.

Written some thirty years ago by Paulo Freire, a Brazilian educator who died in 1997, Freire was…can you guess? -- a committed socialist."

I think we can see where this is all leading to. If Ms. O'Donnell's transgression many years ago was to dabble in the craft as an adolecent, what excuse does Coons have for willingly absorbing it as an adult?

There must have been a problem with Blogger. I couldn't comment for 24 hours.

I half agree with you Coco.

I found it amusing that O'connell has Oxford University listed on her Cirriculum Vitae. It came out today that in reality, she attended a class there from another organization who had rented a classroom from Oxford.

Oh man. O'Donnell is now campigning on "evolution is a lie" schtik.
I just watched a video where she claims Darin recanted on his deathbed and used the "why aren't monkeys still evolving into humans" argument, bit arguments that Answers in Genesis has told their minions not to use.

Total lunatic fringe.

She's a mere PIKER compared to Joe Biden.

"If O’Donnell lied about her academic career, this should prove no impediment to winning over Delaware Democrats. For four decades, First State Democrats have voted for a politician who admittedly lied numerous times about his student days. Alas, what is permissible for Joe Biden is damnable in Christine O’Donnell.

On the campaign trail in Claremont, New Hampshire in April of 1987, presidential candidate Joe Biden responded to a pointed question about his credentials with the taunt: “I think I have a much higher I.Q. than you do.” On a roll, he boasted that he won “the outstanding student in the political science department” at the University of Delaware, from which he “graduated with three degrees,” and then “went to law school on a full academic scholarship,” where he “ended up in the top half” of his Syracuse class.

It wasn’t merely that Biden was immodest; he was dishonest. He didn’t win an “outstanding student” award at Delaware, where he had been a poor student. He didn’t earn three undergraduate degrees; he graduated from the University of Delaware as a double major. He received a half scholarship to Syracuse Law based on financial need and graduated 76th out of 85 students. Biden subsequently owned up to the lies: “I exaggerate when I’m angry.”

He must have been furious when he repeatedly presented the life of Neil Kinnock as if it were his own. In 1987, during Biden’s first run for the presidency, he plagiarized a speech delivered by the British Labour Party leader. Unlike his plagiarism in law school, and of such Democratic luminaries as Robert Kennedy and Hubert Humphrey, this instance contained a pathological dimension of pretending as though events that had happened to another man had happened to him. For example, Kinnock talked about being the first member of his family to graduate from college and his relatives’ 12-hour days slaving in coal mines. Biden did, too, despite these events being completely foreign to him.

The Vice President of the United States is a serial fabricator. He plagiarized in law school and on the campaign trail. He claimed numerous academic honors that he didn’t rate. He assumed another politician’s life as his own. Even Joe Biden’s hair tells a lie." Link

I think a better header for this post would have been "Neener Neener".
