More tolerance from the Left...

Isnt it interesting to note that the champions of free speech and the down-trodden have spoken yet again?
"Dan Fuchs said businesss was just starting to pick up at his kiosk in the Mall at Johnson City. Fuchs' business, the Graphic Edge, printed slogans and pictures on items such as coffee cups, bumper stickers and T-shirts. He said more than half his business came from the sale of anti-Obama merchandise. Bumper stickers with slogans such as "SOS: Stop Obama's Socialism", "Nobama" and "Chicago got the party but the country got the hangover" were displayed around the small stand. Now it appears that Fuchs is out of business at the mall, but mall officials say this decision was not based on political views."
Of course not. Read the story for yourself, but it appears the guy's problems only started after he began marketing anti-Obama merchandise. Sure, the mall received a few complaints, but whatever happened to freedom of speech? All I know is that I just endured 8 years of Bush Derangement Syndrome and when the slightest bit of criticism is leveled at the Sage from Mombassa, liberals shriek and wail "Racism!" at worst or cry like babies at the very least.

Christianity, right wing politics, and beer? That's quite a combination.

All things in moderation Ross. All things in moderation. ;-)

OK, I laughed at Ross's comment.

But I do think that we need to honor freedom of speech for everyone. I don't know the specifics about the situation with the mall Kiosk, but it does seem that while liberals can say whatever they want, conservatives frequently are punished.

Very insightful Tracy. If I had to guess, I would say that the mall was spineless in the face of a couple of complaints. Who would complain? Obama supporters. Obama supporters are almost always on the left side of the political spectrum. I always thought it was the leftists who were the guardians of free-speech. I'm a bit perplexed.

What gets me about some (but not all) people on the left is that they like to make themselves out to be the guardians of tolerance and fairness, but when someone opposes or questions them they can be quite vitriolic.

And thats an understatement Ross. Michael Savage (who I link to on the right) often times laments that back in the day, true liberals would say 'I don't agree with what you say, but I would fight to the death your right to say it'. They arent saying that anymore. In this country, numerous people that disagree with Obama are being painted with the broadest brush possible by those on the left and are being classified as racists when the entire substance of their arguements is purely about policy and raise no other issues.

Such a sad state of affairs. Free speech is something people like to tout when they're the ones talking. When others talk, not so much. Nice point.
