"If a small group of psychiatrists and other mental health professionals have their way at a conference this week, pedophiles themselves could play a role in removing pedophilia from the American Psychiatric Association’s bible of mental illnesses — the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), set to undergo a significant revision by 2013. Critics warn that their success could lead to the decriminalization of pedophilia.
The August 17 Baltimore conference is sponsored by B4U-ACT, a group of pro-pedophile mental health professionals and sympathetic activists. According to the conference brochure, the event will examine “ways in which minor-attracted persons [pedophiles] can be involved in the DSM 5 revision process” and how the popular perceptions of pedophiles can be reframed to encourage tolerance.
Researchers from Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, the University of Louisville, and the University of Illinois will be among the panelists at the conference.
B4U-ACT has been active attacking the APA’s definition of pedophilia in the run up to the conference, denouncing its description of “minor-attracted persons” as “inaccurate” and “misleading” because the current DSM links pedophilia with criminality."

Perhaps I am a bit jaded in that very little suprises me these days, but this one caught me completely off guard. Notice how such utter perversion is now attributed to "minor-attracted persons" and how "tolerance" is so strongly encouraged. Apparently they were paying attention and have learned through the tactics of others that nobody wants to be thought of as intolerant and thus they are using that as their parry in an attempt to deflect any type of rational discussion on the matter.

APA spokeswoman Erin Connors told The Daily Caller in an emailed statement that her organization was not participating in the conference and would not comment on its aims. Link
The new erastes in the modern "gay military" need eromenos for their "Sacred Band". The old "Cincinnatus" model of military service is dead. This should enable our military to remain in the field, deployed, indefinitely.
It's all so hopey-changey.... don't you just LOVE it?
GS, does the APA not participating in this particular conference=this sicko group will not lobby them in 2013?
There is no reason to be surprised. Unless one is surprised that they took this long to push their agenda. Sinners of all kinds want to be normalized and accepted.

I dunno, JD, you're the genius around here. All I know is that this (very small) sicko group has every right to lobby the APA, and that the APA was invited and declined to attend. Doesn't seem to bode well for the sicko group's success. I think you're getting your adorable panties in a wad over a misleading headline.
In an emailed statement to TheDC, Berlin distanced himself Monday afternoon from other B4U-ACT conference participants’ stated aims, saying that he opposes removing pedophilia from the DSM and that he hopes to stop pedophiles before they act. … “society’s interests can best be served by supporting both criminal justice interventions and public health initiatives.”
It should come as no surprise that the lovely lady from Liberty University is unconvinced.
Given that this alleged slippery slope has yet to actually slip, given that sex offender registries don't seem to be working that well, and given that virtually all molestation cases involve someone in or close to the family, it seems to me that there are more suitable targets for your outrage. Unless murdering your adopted children really is the Christian thing to do?
How is murdering adopted children "the Christian thing to do"? Have you ever heard the phrase "Thou shalt not kill"?
Even if it doesnt pass the 2013 revision, there are always future ones for which the groundwork is being laid now GS.

Yes, well, that's the slippery-slope argument in a nutshell, now isn't it?
