Iran's Birthday Bash

Fresh on the heels of a story from the UK to scrap the teaching of history from before the year 1700 comes an article from Ralph Peters which demonstrates the ignorance of people in learning the lessons from 2oth century history.

"Yesterday, the Islamist dictatorship in Tehran celebrated its 31st birthday with nuclear candles, crushing Iranian dreams of freedom and Western hopes of appeasement. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad announced that his scientists have already enriched uranium to the crucial 20 percent hurdle, threatening to go all the way to nuke capability. In the streets, thugs smashed scattered freedom rallies -- clubbing, gassing and firing on demonstrators -- while hundreds of thousands of organized regime supporters rallied in Tehran's main square. And the world turned away. Except China: Beijing gave a silent cheer.

What happens next? Having threatened "consequences" yet again in his State of the Union message, President Obama will play at picayune sanctions, achieving nothing. He won't even take a convincing rhetorical stand in support of the freedom marchers. Europe will do even less. Russia will flash us some thigh, only to cover up again and return to embracing Iran. But what's coming up in Iran will really test us."

The parallels between the policy of appeasement from the late 1930's and today's diplomats are unmistakeable. The world allows a situation to fester in which a madman is allowed to arm himself with all manner of weaponry and in the meantime the world fiddles away, hoping that it will all work out in the end. The attitude of Europe is especially disappointing to me being that they are probably #3 on the list of areas to be threatened by this thuggish regime after Israel and the US.

But think about it. Who does Ahmadinejad and his cohorts have to worry about? The pant-suited brigade of overpaid CPA's and attorneys masquerading as the US State Department? China? Russia? France? Puh-leeze. Nobody wants to stand up to this menace due to a Chamberlain-esque attitude toward an unhealthy desire of "peace in our time" at almost any cost. If anyone would like to offer their thoughts about what a reasonable course of action should look like in response to this menace, I would be pleased to read about your ideas here. In the meantime, the words of Dennis Pranger come to mind..

"For example, another popular liberal bumper sticker proclaims, "War Is not the Answer." It, too, is completely meaningless. If the question is, "What is the square root of 8?" war is not the answer. But if the question is "How do you stop genocidal regimes?" war probably is the answer."

Ginx, I'll ask again, how is a threat of this type to be stopped? Or maybe you don't even view it as a threat.

From their perspective, the madmen already have nukes. From their perspective, the playing field is more level now.

Pranger words ring hollow whenever someone mentions Darfur.

But who do you trust more to have such weapons Tink? A Western Democracy or the mullah regime? After all, we don't have Britain raving about wiping any particular country off the map.

What do you mean?

History keeps repeating itself. Worse still, if this nutcase regime is allowed to continue in the path that it has clearly said it intends to follow, , repetitive history might come to an abrupt end. Armageddon anyone?

GCT, are you implying that we should go to war to defend persecuted Christians and animists in Sudan?

If it is, I've already thought about that scenario.

I live in a country that has no nuclear arms at all.... Not relevant to me. However, it should be noted that the only country in the world who has ever used one as a weapon is the US- Hiroshima. So, what do you think the answer to that question is?

LOL... That was too easy.

Tink, since you feel that the dropping of atomic bombs on Japan might not have een necessary, then perhaps you might want to start a thread on your blog to discuss it. It is something that I have analyzed not long ago and have some thoughts on.

Since you seem to agree with the former commenter formerly referred to as GCT, please tell me what armies Dennis Pranger controls or how his votes as a legislator could affect the use of force in Darfur.

Now, you are removing posts huh? That is funny. Now, you are going to try to win an argument that you epically lost with GCT with me... Not gonna happen.

tinkbell13 said...

I actually really do not blame you for removing his posts. JD- you set yourself up for this. I sometimes feel bad for you with this stuff, but here is what sets you apart from someone like Feeno;
1. Feeno admits when he is wrong.
2. Feeno will actually critically consider what we are talking about and will rebuff or agree with actually listening and asking questions.
3. We respect him for the above reasons.

You really need to look at why guys like GCT (and myself) are so aggressive with you. If you could actually get over yourself, you could probably help people like me learn something.

But, you huff and you puff, and you can never, ever blow the house down.

I'm sorry TB, but you still havent answered my question and shown me where I'm wrong.

"Please tell me what armies Dennis Pranger controls or how his votes as a legislator could affect the use of force in Darfur."

I will answer your other question on the previous thread.

Maybe another nation should have invaded the US to help us get rid of Bush, since apparently that is the only way political change can occur...

Who were the people that GWB was systematically rounding up and executing.

JD- I am going to answer your question. And, I am going to give you an honest answer. This is something that would never come out of your mouth, it is called humility.

I do not know about the topic to make a comment.

And, if you read what I was talking about, which again, you did not, you would see that I was commenting on other things, not that. And, you know what, I trust noone with atomic weaponry. Western or Eastern, inlcuding your country.

But why did you so readily agree with GCT and state "LOL... That was too easy" after GCT provided that as the basis for his argument? Since you readily agreed, I thought you might know something about it. You were just playing cheerleader to his worldview I guess.

Speaking of which, since GCT accused me of thinking that it's ok to rape children, it reminded me of your reaction on another blog in which TV was accussed of thinking that child prostitution was OK. I recall that you even urged TV to report abuse to blogger.com. How is what GCT did acceptable in your eyes, other than you 2 share a certain worldview? Please answer with your patented brand of "humility".

I already answered you in another thread.

You are so twisted in the illogical nature of your arguments that you are arguing something other than what we are talking about. Read it again. You have no idea what we are talking about and I am not going to explain it because you are too lazy to critically decipher it for yourself.
